Softball Splits at Lebanon Valley in Final Game of the Season

ANNVILLE, Pa.- The Juniata softball team topped Lebanon Valley, 8-3 in game one but fell, 2-1 in game two, Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagle's topped the Dutchmen's, 8-3 in game one. In the second inning, Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer Central) reached first on an error by the third basewoman. Chrisi Lerchen (Annville, Pa. / Annville-Cleona) singled to right field and Ulrich advanced to third. Lerchen then advanced to second and Ulrich scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Lebanon Valley then answered back in the second by scoring a run of their own to tie up the game at 1-1. 

In the top of the third, Juniata scored three more runs. Kerigan Ammerman (Alexandria, Pa. / Juniata Valley) reached first on a fielder's choice and then she stole second. Allie Baney (State College, Pa. / State College Area) singled to right center then advanced on an error right field and Ammerman scored. Alyssa Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College) was hit by a pitch. Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) singled to center field then advanced to second on the throw, Shedlock advanced then advanced on the throw, and Baney crossed home plate. A sacrifice fly out to left field allowing Shedlock to cross home plate.

Lebanon Valley scored one run in the fourth and one run in the sixth. In the top of the sixth, Ammerman singled through the right side. Baney reached first on a fielder's choice and advanced to second. Ammerman advanced on a throwing error by the second basewoman and then scored.

Ebright went 2-4 with two runs scored and also recorded her career 100th hit.  Ammerman went 2-4 with three runs scored. 

Game two, Juniata fell to Lebanon Valley 2-1. The Eagles got on the board first scoring in the top of the second. Jennifer Carthew (New Paris, Pa. / Chestnut-Ridge HS) singled to third base. Lerchen singled up the middle and Carthew advanced. Alicia Regnualt (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan) singled to right field, advanced to second, Lerchen advanced and Carthew scored. The Dutchmen put up two runs in the fourth to win the game, 2-1. 

Carthew went 1-2 with one run scored. Regnault went 1-2 with an RBI.
