Softball Splits at Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata softball team split games at Wilson, falling 8-0 in game one and winning game two, 9-4, Sunday afternoon.

In game one, Wilson scored four in the first, two in the fifth, and two in the sixth as Juniata fell in six. 

The Eagles started off game two strong, scoring nine runs in the first four innings before the Phoenixes put up four runs of their own. In the first inning, Kerigan Ammerman (Alexandria, Pa. / Juniata Valley) doubled to left field. Allie Baney (State College, Pa. / State College Area) singled to center field and Ammerman crossed home plate. In the third, Ammerman doubled to left field. Baney bunted to third base and Ammerman advanced. Baney then stole second. With a ground out to second base, Baney advanced and Ammerman scored. A sacrifice fly out to left field allowed Baney to score. 

Juniata scored six more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Alyssa Fasolo (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) reached first on an error by the second basewoman. Brooke Ridenour (Thurmont, Md. / Catoctin) singled to center field and Fasolo advanced. Ammerman singled to right field allowing Ridenour and Fasolo to advance. Then, Baney doubled to center field, Ammerman advanced and Fasolo and Ridenour crossed home plate. The Eagles extended their lead to 5-0. Alyssa Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College) doubled to left field, Baney advanced to third and Ammerman scored. Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) reached first on an error by the shortstop, Shedlock advanced and Baney scored. To continue the scoring plays, Ebright stole second. Jennifer Carthew singled to left field and Ebright and Shedlock scored. 

Wilson scored two in the bottom of the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the seventh. Juniata defeated Wilson 9-4 in game two. 

Baney went 4-4 with a double, a stolen base, two runs scored, and three RBI. Ammerman went 3-4 with two doubles, and three runs scored. 

Juniata will play their final doubleheader of the season at Lebanon Valley on Tuesday, May 1st starting at 3:00PM.
