Eagles Fall to Division II Pitt-Johnstown

HUNTINGDON, Pa.-The Juniata softball team dropped a pair of games to visiting Division II Pitt.- Johnstown, 10-6 and 14-0 (five innings), on a cold Thursday afternoon at West End Field. 

Game one opened with the teams trading zeros until the Mountain Cats scored twice in the in third. They pushed across five more runs in the fifth as Juniata faced a seven-run hole.  

Alicia Regnault (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan) led off with a double right. Brooke Ridenour (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) singled to left while Regnault went first to third. Jennifer Carthew (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut-Ridge HS) singled up the middle which allowed Regnault to score. Allie Baney (State College, Pa./State College Area) singled to short to load the bases before Alyssa Shedlock (State College Pa./State College) singled up the middle to plate Ridenour. Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y./Homer Central) singled and advanced to second on an error while Baney and Carthew scored. Chrisi Lerchen (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) drove in Shedlock with a groundout to first and Ulrich tagged up on Ashley Clark's (Saxton, Pa./Tussey Mountain) foul out to first. Juniata scored six runs to pull within one.  

Pitt.-Johnstown scored two in the sixth and one more in the seventh as JC fell 10-6 in game one. 

Game two saw the Mountain Cats scored once in the second, five in the fourth and eight in the fifth as Juniata fell in five. 

Juniata will host Drew, Saturday at 1:00.
