READING, Pa.- The Juniata softball team played its last regular season doubleheader of the season on Tuesday afternoon against Albright. The Lions won the first game 1-0 and the second game by the score of 8-5.

 

Alyssa Fasolo (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area HS) started the first game and pitched all six innings. She limited the Lions to one run on five hits. She struck out one batter.

 

Allie Baney (State College, Pa./State College) was 2-for-3. She also stole a base. Molly Ulrich (Homer, NY/Homer Central) had the only extra base hit for the Eagles, a double in the second inning.

 

In the second game, Juniata fell behind 1-0 after the second inning but tied it up in the third on an Alicia Regnault (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) RBI single. Albright went ahead as it scored three times in the bottom half of the third inning. JC got to within one run, 4-3, with a pair of scores in the top of the fourth. The Lions countered with a four-run bottom of the fourth and tacked on two more in the top of the sixth.

 

Brooke Ridenour (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) was 2-for-3 with a run scored, a run batted in, and a stolen base. Regnault finished 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Jennifer Carthew (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) had a double and also stole home plate in the sixth inning. Baney picked up Juniata's other stolen base and also was 1-for-2 with a run batted in.

 

Juniata now prepares itself for the Landmark Conference Tournament this weekend. The double elimination competition begins for the Eagles this Friday morning against host Moravian at 11:00 a.m.
