Bettinger Named Landmark Softball Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md.- Senior first baseman Holly Bettinger (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) has been named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week it was announced on Monday. This is Bettinger's first weekly honor of her career and she is the first Juniata player to earn this distinction since Kelsea Decker in 2013.

Bettinger had quite the week for the Eagles. She went a combined 7-for-14 (.500) in four games for JC and had three extra base hits while slugging 1.000. She scored three runs and batted in seven. She had three RBI in Juniata wins over Wilson and Elizabethtown. In the E-town series, Bettinger was 3-for-6 with two home runs and four RBI. The 7-4 win over the Blue Jays is Juniata's first in seven years and snapped E-Town's 11-game winning streak against the Eagles.

On the season, Bettinger is batting .333, which is second on the Eagles. Her five doubles is a team-high and combined with three homeruns gives her eight extra base hits that is second-best on the team. Bettinger's nine career homers ties her with Becky Herr (2001-04) for third place on Juniata's all-time list.
