Rachel Nagy earns ECAC softball honor

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College senior outfielder Rachel Nagy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) has been named to the ECAC's Division III Softball South Region All-Star Second team.

Nagy was one of only four Landmark Conference selections on the ECAC South All-Star team, joining Moravian College pitcher Jenna Carmon and Merchant Marine's Jess LaValley and Kaitlyn Robbins.

Nagy finished the season with a .415 batting average – good enough for third in the final Landmark Conference statistical rankings – with 49 hits and 26 runs batted in. A First team All-Landmark Conference selection this season, she set new Juniata career records for RBI (114), doubles (40), and batting average (.425). Nagy committed just one error this season in 47 chances while playing in right field with some time at third, and logged a mere 13 errors over her four seasons in Blue and Gold while playing first base, third base, and outfield at various times during her career.

Juniata completed its 2010 campaign with a 20-18 record, 6-6 in the Landmark Conference. The Eagles advanced to the Landmark Conference Softball Tournament for the second straight season, and qualified for the post-season for the fourth time in Head Coach John Houck's nine seasons at Juniata. Juniata also posted its third consecutive 20-win season.
