Men's Cross Country 2015 Season Preview

HUNTINGDON, PA – With four freshmen joining the roster this season, the Juniata men's cross country team heads into the 2015 season with a young team. Head coach Jon Cutright enters his 17th season at the head of the men's program with confidence in his upperclassmen and younger runners.

"We still have some work to do, but I think we can be a top-3 or top-4 team," Cutright said.

The other coaches in the Landmark Conference seemed to share Cutright's impression of the team and voted Juniata to finish third this year.

Nick Simpson  (Silver Spring, MD / Albert Einstein) and Conor Dimond (Summerhill, PA / Forest Hills) are among Juniata's top returning athletes for 2015. Dimond finished 20th at Landmarks last season. The Eagles return with one senior, Jacob Krott (Temple, Pa. / Muhlenburg).

Because the demands of school and being away from home can put a lot of pressure on student-athletes that can be overwhelming at times, Cutright expects to see his returning athletes step up as leaders and mentors for the underclassmen.

"Throughout the year you get tired and sometimes you struggle with things not related to sports," Cutright said. "I think they (the upperclassmen) will be able to step in and share their experiences to help them through it."

Juniata's first meet of the season is Sept. 4 at Bucknell University.
