Men’s Cross Country Picked Second in Landmark Conference Preseason Poll

TOWSON, MD- In the 2014 preseason poll released earlier today, the Juniata men’s cross country team has been picked second in the Landmark Conference along with Elizabethtown College. The Eagles and Blue Jays both received a total of 50 points with Juniata collecting two first place votes.

Susquehanna University received five first place votes and 66 points to lead the poll. Moravian College was picked fourth with 38 points and the final first place vote.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy was picked fifth in the poll with 25 points while the University of Scranton finished sixth with 19 points. Catholic University earned the seventh spot with 16 points and Goucher College rounded out the poll with seven points for eighth place.

With only one major loss from the 2013 squad that finished second at the Landmark Championship, Juniata is looking to compete for the 2014 league title. The Eagles are returning five top-17 runners from last season and adding some young legs to the mix.

The team will begin its 2014 season this Saturday at the Bison Open in Lewisburg.
