Men’s Cross Country Places 15th at Mideast Regional

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Juniata College men's cross country team finished the 2013 season by placing 15th overall at Saturday's NCAA DIII Mideast Regional meet, hosted by Muhlenberg College and held at Lehigh University.

 

The Eagles saw an improvement of 9 places and 120 points from last year. Juniata earned 533 points out of the 54 teams with at least five runners. John Hopkins took home first place with 62 points.

 

Juniata had two runners place inside the top 100 at the event. Freshman Nick Simpson (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) was Juniata's top finisher, placing 68th with a personal record time of 26:23 in the 8K event. Senior Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) placed 95th with a time of 26:47.

 

Just outside the top 100 was sophomore Matt Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), who crossed the line in 26:52 for 102nd place. Junior Stephen Park (State College, Pa./State College) and sophomore Jacob Krott (Temple, Pa./Muhlenburg) finished the day with personal bests, with respective times of 27:07 and 27:35.

 

Junior Nick Trapane (Thumont, Md./Catoctin) and sophomore Ryan Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) rounded out Juniata's scorers with times of 27:41 and 28:08, respectively.
