Men’s and women’s cross country teams finish fourth at Goucher Classic

TOWSON, Md. – The Juniata College men's and women's cross country teams finished fourth at the Goucher College Cross Country Classic, Saturday afternoon at the Goucher cross country course.

The meet served as a warm-up for the Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships, which will be held on the same course in three weeks. 

Nik Klena (Franklin, Pa./Oil City) paced the men's team with a 14th-place finish with a time of 28:47.70. Jon Pfadenhauer (Old Westbury, N.Y./The Wheatley School) was 23rd in a time of 29:21.00, while Marty Henderek (Titusville, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) was 27th with a mark of 29:35.60.

Pete Mullins (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills) rounded out Juniata finishers among the top 40, placing 37th with a time of 30:07.50. 

As a team, Juniata tallied 130 points and was fourth out of 12 teams in the 8,000m event. 

In the women's 6,000m race, Juniata had a pair of top 10 finishers. 

Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) was fifth with a time of 25:07.60, while Caroline Morgan (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) was ninth in 25:37.90. 

Three other Juniata runners finished among the top 40: Jess Koenig (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) was 22nd in 26:34.40, while Megan McQuillan (Severna Park, Md./Seton Keough) was 26th with a mark of 26:39.90.  Casey Hoffman (Coplay, Pa./Parkland) was 32nd with a time of 27:07.50.

Juniata will compete at next Saturday's Gettysburg College Invitational, before taking a week off to prepare for the Landmark meet on October 30.
