Men's Volleyball Sweeps Randolph-Macon to Close CVC Play, Gives DeHaven his 300th Career Win

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #8 Juniata men's volleyball team closed CVC regular season play with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-16) win over visiting Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon in their final regular season home game at Memorial Gymnasium.

Tyler Goldsborough had 11 kills (.556), two aces, three digs, and a block assist, while Tyler Phillips totaled nine kills (.267), two aces, four digs, and three block assists. Campbell Gerdeman added eight kills (.385), a dig, and three block assists.

Set one saw the Yellow Jackets jump ahead 5-10 early and lead later at 13-16 as they gave the Eagles all they could handle. Juniata weathered the storm and eventually pulled even for the final time at 21-21. From there, a Phillips kill and a pair of errors by the visitors gave JC set point. Phillips ended the set with an ace, 25-21.

Juniata completely dominated the second set, hitting .733 and holding RMC to -.158. The Eagles soared ahead on a 15-4 run early and cruised to a 25-13 win. Logan Constable ended the set with a slide, smacking the ball into the floor in the middle of the Yellow Jacket defense.

Set three took longer for the Eagles to take control, holding a 13-11 lead midway. A kill from Goldsborough, a block by Constable and Reese Ganter, a Luke Hoffman ace, and another RMC error made it 17-11. Juniata later reached set point on a Hoffman slide as he obliterated a ball on a slide, and an RMC attacker overhit a ball to end the match, 25-16.

The win is the 300th of head coach Glenn DeHaven's career, as he brought 132 wins from Stevens Institute of Technology and won his 168th game here at Juniata today.

Men's volleyball will close the regular season on the road at Elmira, playing Wilkes at 1:00 and Elmira at 5:00.
