Eagles Sweep Saints on Senior Day as Goldsborough, Ganter Reach Career Milestones

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #8 Juniata men's volleyball team brushed aside Marymount University 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-10) Friday evening on Senior Night.

Luke Hoffman totaled eight kills (.889) with two aces, a dig, and a block assist, while Tyler Phillips had a match-high 14 kills (.571) to go with an ace, seven digs, and a block assist. Tyler Goldsborough had 12 kills (.429), two assists, three aces, and four digs. Reese Ganter contributed 34 assists and four digs.

It was a match with some milestones: Goldsborough surpassed 1000 career kills, and Ganter had his 3000th assist.

Early in set one, with the score at 3-3, Philips put down a kill and teamed up with Logan Constable for a block. Hoffman served up two aces around another Goldsborough kill and a Saint error to put the Eagles up 9-3. Marymount pulled close several times, with the final time at 21-18. Kills from Goldsborough and Phillips, along with an error, put JC at set point, and Goldsborough went off the block for his 1000th kill and to take set one, 25-18.

Set two was tightly contested, but Juniata seemed to take control at 20-19 on a wild point that featured Jeremiah Burden keeping the ball alive off the scoreboard and later keeping a ball alive off a Saint block. The point ended with Ganter setting a ball for Hoffman, who went off the block to make it 21-19. The Eagles took set two, 25-21.

Juniata hit an outrageous .696 with 17 kills in set three as they blitzed the Saints with an 11-2 two-run to take the game 25-10.

The Eagles return to action tomorrow to host Randolph Macon to end CVC conference play at 2:00.
