Robbins, Goldsborough Lead Eagles Past St. Elizabeth and Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The #10 Juniata men's volleyball team pushed their winning streak to eight as they defeated St. Elizabeth 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-14) and Arcadia 3-1 (25-23, 23-24, 25-22, 25-23) Saturday afternoon. 

In set one against Saint Elizabeth, with the score at 8-4, the Eagles embarked on an 11-2 run that was highlighted by two Grant Lorelli and Logan Constable blocks and a pair of Chase Robbins kills. A service error ended set one, 25-10. JC hit .733 as a team, with 11 kills on 15 swings and zero errors during the set.  

The second set saw the Eagles score the first eight points on their way to 14 of the first 15 as they held complete control and never relented. Nathanael had three kills during the run, while Robbins added a kill with two aces. 

Set three was tight midway through at 12-10 before 11 straight Eagle points put the match out of reach as the Eagles cruised to a 25-14 win to end the match.  

Robbins led the way with ten kills (.533) to go with an assist, five aces, and five digs, while Brown tallied 12 kills (.647), an ace, a dig, and two block assists. Will Sierer totaled 24 assists, an ace, and three digs as the offense hit .571 for the match. Octavian Sperry had eight kills (.583) with an ace, four digs, and two block assists.  

Juniata played four tight sets against the Knights of Arcadia. Set one saw the Eagles nursing a three-point lead late, 21-18 before two errors brought the hosts back within one. The teams traded points as JC led 23-21, and a big Tyler Goldsborough kill eventually ended the set 25-23 for the Eagles. 

Arcadia took the second set, 23-25, as a late three-point surge from the Knights gave them the lead at 18-20, and the Eagles couldn't recover. This was the first set Juniata had dropped since February 2.  

The turning point of the third set was midway was early, with the score at 10-11. A service error, a block by Juan Armando and Luke Hoffman, and two attack errors by the Knights put Juniata up by three, and they never trailed the rest of the way as they took the set 25-22.  

In the final set, Juniata led by five at various points, but Arcadia fought back to get within one, 22-21. Back-to-back kills from Armando and Hoffman gave the Eagles a match point, and Hoffman ended it following a Knight point and a JC timeout, 25-22. 

Goldsborough was unstoppable for the Eagles as he tallied 19 kills (.400) with an ace, an assist, eight digs, and a block assist. Hoffman added seven kills, two aces, a dig, a solo block, and three block assists. Reese Ganter had 39 assists, a kill, three digs, a solo block, and a block assist.  

Juniata returns to action at home for the Juniata Invitational this Friday at 8:00, when they host Nazareth.
