HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #11 Juniata men's volleyball team swept aside Kean 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-16) in the Continental Volleyball Conference quarterfinal inside a rollicking Memorial Gymnasium Tuesday evening.

Will Phelan (Saegertown, Pa. / Saegertown HS) and Tyler Goldsborough (Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township HS) led the way for the Eagles as they each tallied eight kills. Phelan added an ace, eight digs, and three block assists while hitting .417; Goldsborough tacked on three aces, four digs, two block assists, and hit .312. Kevin Duffy III (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle HS) amassed six kills while hitting .333 with two block assists, while Luke Hoffman (Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township HS) had three kills and was blocking everything as he tallied a solo block and five block assists. Reese Ganter (Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township HS) had the offense humming as he totaled 33 assists, a kill, an ace, two digs, two solo blocks, and a block assist. Joseph Chambers (West Hempstead, N.Y. / West Hempstead HS) chipped in with five kills, two digs, and three block assists.

A big kill from Phelan from the left got the Eagles rolling to start the match, and they ran out to a 12-7 lead. A kill from Goldsborough, an ace from Ganter followed by a Cougars mistake, and a block by Goldsborough and Chambers made it 16-7, which forced a Kean timeout. Kean managed to slice the JC advantage to five but kills from Goldsborough and Chambers gave JC set point. Phelan smashed another ball from the back row to end the first set.

The second set was complete domination from the Eagles, as they mounted a 6-0 run and three different 4-0 runs to cruise to a 25-11 win. Juniata hit a bodacious .600 in the second set while limiting Kean to -.115.

The third set saw the visitors take a narrow 1-2 lead before a dominant 8-0 rally Eagles that was led by Goldsborough. He served up three aces and had a kill during the run. Chambers also featured during the run with two block assists and a kill, while Duffy and Phelan each had one block assist. The Cougars never got closer than seven, and Goldsborough would eventually end the match with a kill, 25-16.
