Men's Volleyball Ranked 12th in AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata men's volleyball team is ranked 12th in this week's AVCA Coaches Top-15 Poll after being ranked 15th in the AVCA preseason poll last week.

The Eagles opened their season at the Jim Coleman Invitational hosted by Wittenberg where they went 3-0 on the weekend. On Friday, January 17th, Juniata defeated Augustana (IL.), 3-1 and Wittenberg, 3-1. On Saturday, JC defeated Lakeland, 3-0. 

Against Augustana (IL.), Sean Cavanagh (Cranberry Twp., Pa. / Seneca Valley) posted a double-double as he tallied 13 kills (.458), 12 digs along with an ace and a solo block. Robert Bowling (Columbus, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) also added 13 kills while hitting .297 and totaling three blocks.  Against Wittenberg, Kevin Duffy (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle HS) had nine kills on an efficient .750 while Bowling added 18 kills, three aces, and eight digs. Against Lakeland, Michael Young (Westlake Village, Calif. / Westlake Village) tallied 31 assists, three digs, and a block assist and Duffy tallied ten kills while hitting .714. 

The Eagles will host No. 1 SUNY New Paltz this Friday to start off the Juniata Invitational at 7:30 pm.
