Eagles Open Saturday With Win at Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Juniata men's volleyball team defeated Immaculata, 3-0 (25-8, 25-8, 25-11) Saturday afternoon. 

The first set opened with the Eagles racing out to a 9-1 lead. The Mighty Macs took the first point on a block before JC rattled off the nine straight. Jordan Orth-Moore (Annapolis, Md. / International School of Kenya) tallied three kills and a solo block, Matt Schaeffer (Mount Wolf, Pa. / Northeastern) had a service ace while Immaculata committed three errors. JC continued to control the opener as they won 25-8.

The second set was close midway through but with the score at 11-7 the Eagles started to pull away. Three errors from the Mighty Macs, a kill from Schaeffer, a block from Orth-Moore and Michael Young (Westlake Village, Calif. / Westlake Village), an Immaculata attack error along with two straight Orth-Moore kills made it 16-7. A kill by the hosts broke up the run momentarily before  kills from Orth-Moore, Daniel Voronov (Northbrook, Ill. / Glenbrook North HS) and Young along with a Bryce Workman (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) ace to make it 20-8. The Eagles wound up taking set two 25-8. 

The third set saw Juniata have their most efficient set hitting as they tallied 15 kills while hitting .520 to win set three, 25-11 and the match.

The Eagles have two more matches today, Hunter at 5:00 and Cairn at 7:00.
