Men's Volleyball Ranked 14 in AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata men's volleyball team is ranked 14th in this week's AVCA DIII Coaches Poll.

The Eagles split the weekend going 1-1. On Friday, February 15th, Juniata fell 3-2 to No. 11 Southern Virginia in a conference match. On Saturday, the Eagles defeated Eastern Mennonite, 3-1 in conference play. Against Southern Virginia, Quinn Peterson (Las Vegas, Nev. / Shadow Ridge) totaled 21 kills while hitting .381 with three aces and two block assists. Joe Fick (Venetia, Pa. / Peters Township) tallied 17 kills while hitting .297. Against Eastern Mennonite, David Hibner (Burke, Va. / Lake Braddock Secondary) amassed nine kills (.412), two aces, two solo blocks and five block assists. Fick totaled 18 kills (.400) and eight digs.

On February 19th, Juniata defeated Elizabethtown, 3-0. This was the first ever men's volleyball match between Landmark Conference affiliated schools. Fick totaled ten kills while hitting .529 and added five digs. Peterson added nine kills, eight digs, and a block assist. Kevin Duffy (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle HS) tallied six service aces and a block assist. The Eagles had the most service aces in a single match so far this season with 16 and their best hitting percentage of the year at .421.
