#5 Warriors Ground Eagles

Honolulu, HI- The Juniata men's volleyball team fell to #5 University of Hawaii, 3-0, Friday evening at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Quinn Peterson (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge) had five kills while Sean Cavanagh (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) and Joe Fick (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) each amassed four kills.

The Warriors took the first seven points of the opening set, and the Eagles could not come back as UH took set one, 25-10.

The second set saw the Eagles tie things early, with a Peterson kill tying the score at 1-1 early. UH took the next three points before a Cavanagh kill made it 2-4. The teams traded points before Hawaii took four straight to make it 3-8. Fick put down a kill and some errors helped JC stay within shouting distance at 8-12. UH took the next three points to go up 9-15, and an error and another Peterson kill pulled the Eagles back within five at 10-15. The Warriors took the next four points and went on to take set two, 15-25.

The third set began with the teams going back and forth early, and blocks by Mahlon Bender (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Fick gave Juniata a 3-2 lead. Back to back kills from David Hibner (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock Secondary) and Peterson made it 5-3, UH tied the score at 6-6. Peterson put down a kill, but UH took the next three points to go up 7-9. Bender put down a kill to get JC within one, but an 8-0 run by the Warriors made it 8-17 and essentially iced the match. Hawaii took the third set, 13-25.

Juniata wraps up their trip against #2 Stevens, this evening at 9:00 p.m. EST.
