Seeley and Peterson Named to CVC All-Conference Team

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- On Thursday, the Continental Volleyball Conference announced its 2017 All-Conference Team. Juniata was represented by senior middle blocker Kyle Seeley (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and sophomore outside hitter Quinn Peterson (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge).

 

Seeley led the CVC with a .509 hitting percentage and in total blocks with 56, while also ranking in the top ten in kills and kills per set. His .444 overall hitting percentage is fourth in the NCAA while his blocks per set is 16th. Seeley was named CVC player of the week on February 6 as he helped Juniata pick up two wins. He recorded 17 kills over three matches at the Golden Flyer Invitational. Seeley had a high of 11 kills in a 3-2 Eagles win over Johnson & Wales, while adding four digs and three blocks. He totaled eight kills against Nazareth and seven more in a win over Medaille.

 

Peterson finished with 164 kills, the third most in conference play, while adding 23 service aces and also ranking in the top ten in total blocks with 38. In the latest NCAA rankings, he is 11th in points per set (4.5), 12th in kills per set (3.74), and 24th in attacks per set (8.2). He was the CVC and ECAC Player on the week on January 23 as he averaged 4.4 kills per set at the CVC/UVC Crossover Tournament, totaling 50 points in three matches. He had a 10- kill and four-dig performance against #3 ranked Stevens. Peterson finished with 14 kills, three aces, and five digs in helping Juniata sweep Elmira 3-0. He closed out the weekend with 20 kills, hitting .432, and six digs against UC Santa Cruz. Overall, Peterson hit .267 and averaged 1.5 digs and 5.0 points per set.

 

The Eagles face Stevenson in the CVC semifinals tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The match will be played at host Marymount's Verizon Sports Arena.
