NEW PALTZ, NY- In a rematch of their January 28 battle, the men's volleyball teams of Juniata and SUNY New Paltz met once again but this time at the Hawks' home court. The Eagles gave the Hawks a fight but it was New Paltz who came out on top with a 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-17) win.

 

The Eagles led 6-5 in the first set but New Paltz came back to take an 8-6 lead. The lead would change hands several more times throughout the set. JC was able to narrow the score to 24-23 but the Hawks would win on a kill from Jake Roessler.

 

The Hawks went up 6-3 in the second frame before the Eagles came back to go up 12-10. New Paltz briefly led 13-12 but JC grabbed the lead back at 15-14. Juniata went up 21-16 but the Hawks rallied with a 10-3 run to claim the set.

 

The third set belonged to the Hawks as they led throughout. Juniata was as close as 6-4 but New Paltz expanded its advantage to 14-8 and 23-15 as it won the set and the match.

 

Quinn Peterson (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge) led the team in kills with 12. Michael Young (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake Village) had 22 assists and four digs. Chris Heron (Las Vegas, Nev./Arbor View) finished with six digs.

 

Juniata next heads to Poughkeepsie for a tri-match. The Eagles play MIT at 1:00 p.m. and close with the host Brewers at 3:00 p.m.
