ARLINGTON, Va.- The Juniata men's volleyball team played its second consecutive Continental Volleyball Conference match on Saturday night. The Eagles had a 1-0 lead on Marymount but the Saints won the last three sets to come away with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-18).

The Eagles totaled 53 kills in the match led by Quinn Peterson's (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge) 21. Chad Albert (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) added 12 while Kyle Seeley (Ellicott City, Md/Howard) chipped in 11. Seeley also picked up three service aces while Albert tallied four. Quinn Looper (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) totaled 48 assists and eight digs. Brendan Smith (Fuquay Varina, N.C./Fuquay-Varina) had seven digs.

Juniata broke a 16-16 tie in the first set with a 3-0 run to go ahead 19-16. The Saints kept the Eagles' lead to no more than three points. Marymount got to 23-21 but committed a service and attack error to give JC the last two points it needed to win the set.

Marymount took the early lead in the second set before Juniata briefly wrestled it away. The Saints recovered to take back the lead but the Eagles kept pace. JC was one point away from tying the match up at 20-19 but Marymount used a 5-2 run to pull away and win the set and even the match at 1-1.

The Eagles led for most of the third frame. They led by one point, 19-18, before the Saints got ahead 20-19. The two teams would exchange points back and forth and the set was tied at 24-24. A bad set by Peterson and a service ace from the Saints' Jordan Pawlicki gave Marymount the last two points for the set win.

Juniata trailed throughout the fourth frame. The Eagles smallest deficit came at 17-13 but the Saints would go on to outscore JC 8-5 down the stretch to come away with the victory.

After over a month away from Memorial Gymnasium, Juniata returns to host Thiel this Tuesday night. Match time is at 7 p.m.
