Men’s Volleyball Falls To Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md.- For the second time this season, the Juniata and Stevenson men's volleyball teams met in a Continental Volleyball Association match. The Mustangs got the better of the Eagles as they won by the score of 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-16).

 

Matt Vasinko (Loyalhanna, Pa./Derry Area) totaled 10 kills to lead the Eagles offense. Ryan Shelton (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker)  picked up 13 assists while Quinn Looper (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) added 11 assists. Brendan Smith (Fuquay-Varina, N.C./Fuquay-Varina) tallied six digs.

 

Juniata led 8-6 in the first set before the Mustangs put up four straight points to go up 10-8. The Eagles caught up to tie the match three times with the last time occurring at 18-18. Stevenson went ahead 21-18 and would go on to outscore JC 4-2 down the stretch to take the set.

 

The Eagles led 2-1 in the second set but the Mustangs rattled off nine straight points to go up 10-2. Stevenson led by as much as 20-9 on its way the take the frame.

 

Stevenson led for all of third set. The Eagles got as close as 16-13 but the Mustangs ended on a 9-1 run to claim the set and match.

 

The Eagles travel to New Paltz, N.Y. for a tri-match. Juniata will play the #2 Hawks at 1:00 p.m. JC wraps up the day with #7 Dominican at 3:00 p.m.
