GREENVILLE, Pa.- Juniata men's volleyball played Thiel in a Continental Volleyball Conference match on Tuesday evening. The Tomcats kept it close but the Eagles were able to come out with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) victory.

Quinn Peterson (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge) led the JC offense with 15 kills. Kyle Seeley (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) added 11 kills. Ryan Shelton (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) totaled 29 assists. Brendan Smith (Fuquay-Varina, N.C./Fuquay Varina) paced the defense with 10 digs.

Following a timeout, JC regrouped and went on a 5-2 run to tie the set at 18-18. The Tomcats would slink ahead 20-18 but three straight points by the Eagles gave them a 21-20 lead. Thiel tied it at 21-all but Juniata ended the frame with a 4-0 run to win 25-21 and go ahead 1-0 in the match.

In the second frame, the Eagles led by as much as 10-5. The Tomcats would narrow the deficit but the Juniata lead would be no more than two points. JC eventually got ahead by five points again, 20-15, and withstood a late Thiel rally to win and go ahead 2-0.
