Bortak Selected as CVC Player of the Week

LEXINGTON, KY- For the second straight week, a member of the Juniata men's volleyball team has earned player of the week honors from the Continental Volleyball Conference. Senior middle blocker Joe Bortak (Jeannette, PA/Penn Trafford) has been bestowed with this recognition.

 

Bortak averaged 4.57 kills per set in two conference wins last week. In the Eagles' 3-1 win over Cairn last Wednesday, he put down 21 kills on 25 attempts while adding four total blocks. He finished the match with 24 points and chipped in six digs. In his next outing, a 3-0 sweep of Stevenson on Friday, Bortak recorded 11 kills, hitting .429 in the match, and added seven digs and two blocks.

 

On the week, Bortak hit .630 with 32 kills and just three errors on 46 attempts. He recorded 13 digs, five total blocks, and 35.5 points in the two matches.

 

Juniata (13-2, 4-0 CVC) will host Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday night at Memorial Gymnasium. Match time will be at 7 p.m.
