HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After a national search, Juniata College Director of Athletics Greg Curley has announced Pat Shawaryn ('04) as the head coach of Eagle men's volleyball. Shawaryn took over as the seventh head coach of the program on an interim basis after the March 6 departure of former head coach Kevin Moore.

"Pat has a great track record of success," said Curley. "He has been successful as a player and a coach at every place and every level he has been at. He did a very good job stepping into a very difficult situation and I thought our team was playing its best when its best was needed and that's something that defines a quality coach."

Shawaryn steered the Eagles to a 13-2 record after taking over, including a second consecutive Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) title, a second straight NCAA Division III tournament appearance, four successive weeks at No. 1 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-15 poll, and a runner up finish on the national stage.

"I am very thankful that Juniata is giving me a chance to uphold the great tradition that the Juniata Men's Volleyball team has," said Shawaryn. "I'm very excited to continue working with this group of young men that make up our team. We have some work to do to try and have the same type of successful season as last year, but I believe this group is more than capable of doing that."

The 2014 Eagles raked in four AVCA All-America honors, four Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Stars, and four CVC All-Conference honorees including Player of the Year. Shawaryn will begin his first full season in charge of Juniata men's volleyball with a No. 2 ranking in the final 2014 AVCA poll.

"It's exciting to see [Pat] take over the program and move it forward in his vision," added Curley. "I'm hoping that he can sustain our competitive success and remain committed to our success on and off the floor."
