National Runner-up Finishes Year Ranked No. 2 in AVCA Poll

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Just a few days after the Juniata College men's volleyball team appeared in its first NCAA national championship match, the Eagles were voted No. 2 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll.  The Eagles earned 182 points to move up from third place.  Juniata (29-5) spent the entire 2014 season ranked in the top three, with five weeks at No. 1.

 

Three-time national champion Springfield College was the unanimous No. 1 choice with 195 points and SUNY New Paltz moved to third with 166 points, respectively. The Hawks were knocked out of the national semifinals by Juniata.

 

Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) rival Carthage College held onto the No. 4 spot at 157 points.  And Rivier University made the jump into the top five from seventh place after its appearance in the national tournament.  Stevenson University rounded out the ranked CVC teams, tying for 13th with 33 points.
