Elias Named ECAC Player of the Week

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Sophomore Matt Elias (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Player of the Week Tuesday after helping the third ranked Juniata College men's volleyball team to its second consecutive Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) championship.

 

The 6-1 setter led the Eagles to a 3-1 win over Dominican, 3-0 win against No. 4 Carthage, and a 3-0 sweep of No. 13 Stevenson in the tournament.  Elias averaged 11.5 assists per set and was named tournament most valuable player for the second straight year.  He earned a match-high 51 assists in the win over Dominican, marking the second time this season he earned over 50 assists in a single match, and the second time in his career it happened in a four set match.

 

Elias picked up a 115 assists over the weekend and added 12 digs and two service aces to his total.
