HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Despite outhitting and outblocking No. 15 Stevenson University, No. 1 Juniata College men's volleyball could not pull off the comeback and dropped its first Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) match of the season 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18) Friday night.  In front of a season-high 675-fan crowd, the Eagles (23-4, 8-1) led in attack percentage, service aces, digs, and blocks.  With the win Stevenson improved to 19-7 overall, 8-1 in league.

"We just didn't have it tonight," said head coach Pat Shawaryn.  "Stevenson played really smart and really well.  We were not sharp.  It was a learning experience."

The match was a battle back and forth by both teams.  It was tied 28 times with 12 lead changes.  Junior Justin Waldorf (Eden, N.Y./Eden) provided many sparks throughout the match for Juniata.  He finished with a team-high 11 kills with only three errors for a .348 attack percentage.  Senior Alex McColgin (Buffalo, N.Y./Hamburg) was the only other Eagle in double-figure kills.  He put down 10 of his own, finished with seven blocks and a team-best 14.5 points.

Juniata returns to action on Saturday, April 5 when they take on Cairn University in their final regular season match of the season.  It is senior day for the Eagles.  They will be recognizing McColgin along with Ross Madden (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) and Ben Krouse (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South).  Match time is set for 3 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium.
