Notes From the Nest: A Weekly Recap of Juniata College Athletics

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The weather continued to wreak havoc on the Juniata College athletic spring schedules, but the Eagles still managed to break records and come away with dominating wins.

 

Baseball
Junior Cody Krepps (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwod-Antis) went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in during the Juniata College baseball teams' 5-2 loss to Moravian College Saturday. The Eagles will travel to The University of Scranton this Wednesday, April 2, to play a rescheduled doubleheader before traveling to D.C. to face the Cardinals of Catholic University of America this weekend. Juniata returns home Wed., April 9, for a doubleheader against Mount Aloysius College beginning at 1 p.m.

 

Softball
The Juniata softball team went 0-2 after dropping a tough doubleheader with St. Vincent College on Thursday.  The Eagles (3-15) were led by sophomore Paige Dennison (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) at the plate.  She went 4-for-8 with two runs and a stolen base.  Juniata has three home doubleheaders coming up against La Roche (April 1), Penn State Altoona (April 3), and Drew (April 5) this coming week.

 

Men's Tennis
The Juniata College men's tennis team remained undefeated on the year, 8-0, with a 9-0 sweep of Messiah College on Thursday. Freshman Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and sophomore Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) remained undefeated in dual match play at the No. 1 and No. 5 singles positions, respectively. The Eagles will be back in action at home this Tuesday, April 1, at 3:30 p.m. when they host Lycoming College.

 

Men's Volleyball
Juniata men's volleyball held onto the top spot in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll and closed its non-conference schedule with two road wins in a tri-match Saturday afternoon.  The No. 1 Eagles took down host Hilbert College 3-1 before topping Penn State Altoona 3-0.  Juniata (23-3) was led by senior Alex McColgin (Buffalo, N.Y./Hamburg) and freshman Tommy Keisling (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny).  The pair finished with 13 kills each, respectively.  Juniata returns home for its final matches of the regular season as they host Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) rivals No. 15 Stevenson and Cairn Friday-Saturday, April 4-5.
