Lewis Wins 100 Meters, Earns Bronze in 200 Meters at Millersville Metrics Day Two

MILLERSVILLE, Pa.- The Juniata men's track and field team concluded the Millersville Metrics on Saturday, the second day of the event. Colson Lewis continued his strong form from the indoor season with a win in the 100 meters and third place in the 200 meters, both of which landed him in the Juniata record book.

Lewis logged a 10.96 in the preliminaries for the 100 meters before setting the exact same time in the finals to win the event in his outdoor track and field debut for Juniata. His 10.96 puts him third in program history, and he is 0.18 seconds down from Ray Shelley's second-best time set in 1991.

In the 200 meters, Lewis earned third place with a time of 22.47. He now also holds Juniata's third-best time in that event. He's 0.04 seconds away from Ashley Mort's second-best time at the 2001 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Barrett Walters had a strong showing in the discus throw, as he earned seventh place with a mark of 39.64 meters. Logan Hackenberg also threw in the event, finishing 33rd from a field of 46 with a mark of 28.12 meters.

The duo also competed in the javelin for the first time this year. Walters threw 51.09 meters to finish 11th, while Hackenberg was 34th with a mark of 28.13 meters.

Augie Secco, CJ Coffey, and Max Scott all raced in the 800 meters and the 1500 meters.

Secco had Juniata's best 800-meter time, 2:16.83, which earned him 37th place. Coffey was 46th with a time of 2:21.84, while Scott finished 50th with a time of 2:26.06.

Coffey finished in 26th place in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:32.55. Secco was 31st with a time of 4:36.09, and Scott logged a 4:41.03 to claim 36th place.

Gavin Robb and Sean Buckley each competed in the pole vault; Robb finished in ninth place with a mark of 3.60 meters, while Buckley was unable to set a mark on his first day out.

Robb also raced in the 400 meters, finishing in 32nd place with a time of 58.97.

The Juniata men's track and field team competes again this Saturday, April 13th, at the Westminster Invitational.
