Lewis Wins 60-Meters, Walters Podiums in Weight Throw at F&M

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Juniata men's track and field team competed for the second week in a row, this time at the Mini-Dip Invitational at Franklin & Marshall College. Colson Lewis maintained his strong 60-meter form with a win in the event, while he moved up a spot in program history to second place. Barrett Walters also earned a podium in the weight throw with a third-place finish. 

After a 7.06 in the 60-meter prelims, Lewis earned his first event victory in the 60-meter final with a time of 6.95. The new personal best moves him past Dustin Sier's time set in 2006, and he stands 0.08 seconds behind the program's best time set by Randy Anderson at the DIII Indoor National Championships in 2007. 

Barrett Walters also earned a podium finish with his 14.26-meter mark in the weight throw, earning him third place from a field of 33. Walters also competed in the shot put, finishing in 29th place with a mark of 10.64 meters.  

In addition to Lewis, Isaiah Huffstutler, Caleb Massare, Lincoln Riddle, and Ivan Foreman also competed in the 60 meters. Huffstutler had Juniata's next best time, a 7.32 that earned him 13th place. Riddle finished in 24th with a time of 7.55, Massare was 31st, finishing in 7.65, and Foreman with 37th with a time of 7.82.  

Lewis, Huffstutler, Foreman, and Massare also ran in the 200 meters. Lewis finished in fifth place with a time of 23.52, shaving 0.20 seconds off his previous best for a new PR. Huffstutler also set a PR with a 24.69 with a 0.29-second reduction, claiming 20th place. Massare was 28th with a time of 25.27, and Foreman was 41st with a time of 26.73.  

Augie Secco and Ellis Kline each set a 5000-meter time. Secco finished 18th place with a time of 18:14.62, while Kline was in 21st place with a time of 18:33.48. 

Riddle posted his first 300-meter time of the season with a time of 38.02 to earn eighth place.  

Massare also set his first collegiate high jump mark at 5.47 meters, which earned him 11th place out of 24.  

The Juniata men's track and field team returns to action for the Blue and White Invitational at Franklin & Marshall on Friday, February 9th.
