Men's Track and Field Places Ninth at Messiah Invite

GRANTHAM, Pa.- The Juniata men's track & field team placed ninth overall at the Messiah Invite, Saturday.

In the 10,000m, Desmond O'Donovan (Philadelphia, Pa. / Science Leadership Academy) (33:26.19) and Evan Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer) (34:04.27) took the top two spots. In the 110m hurdles, Brenden Gardner (Muncy, Pa. / Hughesville) claimed sixth place in finals coming in with a time of 16.53. Gardner placed fourth in the 400m hurdles, coming in with a time of 57.63 whie Malcolm MacDermid (San Francisco, Calif. / Lick-Wilmanding) placed 14th (63.87). 

Andy Meci (Woodstock, N.Y. / Onteora) finished fourth in the 800m run coming in with a time of 1:58.50 while Thomas Cope (Fogelsville, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) placed 37th with a time fo 2:25.98. In the 1500m run, Meci placed 11th finishing with a time of 4:10.68 and Cope finished 39th with a time of 4:56.65. In the 3000m steeplechase, Peter D'Amico (Hummelstown, Pa. / Hershey) placed sixth coming in with a time of 10:17.27. 

In the 100m dash, Calvin Bembry II (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) placed 27th with a time of 12.04. In the 200m dash, Noah Zolnak (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) placed 35th (24.72) while Daulton Snyder (New Oxford, Pa. / New Oxford) placed 36th (24.76). In the 400m dash, Evan MacMullin (Haverhill, Mass. / Saint John's Prep HS) finished 14th coming in with a time of 54.60. 

The Juniata 4x100m relay placed sixth with a time of 45.95 and the 4x400m relay placed seventh with a time of 3:43.78. 

Gardner placed ninth in the high jump marking 1.78m. In the long jump, Snyder placed 22nd marking 5.24m. In the shot put, Thayer Phillips (Cuddy, Pa. / South Fayette) placed eighth marking 13.79m. Philips placed ninth in the discus marking 36.75m. In the hammer throw, Phillips placed 15th marking 38.34m. 

Juniata will compete again on April 17th at the Ship Mid-Week Invite, hosted by Shippensburg.
