Eagles Host Juniata Invitational

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's track & field team competed in the Juniata Invitational held at Oller Track this afternoon.

Andy Meci (Woodstock, N.Y. / Onteora) finished first in the 1500m (4:16.66) as one of the Eagles top finishers of the day. Desmond O'Donovan (Philadelphia, Pa. / Science Leadership Academy) also claimed a first place in the 3000m coming in with a time of 9:03.46. 

In the 5000m, Evan Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer) took second placed coming in with a time of 16:07.55. In the 800m, Meci took third place finishing with a time of 2:08.42 and Thomas Cope (Fogelsville, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) placed 12th with a time of 2:31.24. In the 1500m, Cope placed nineth (5:02.87). 

Noah Zolnak (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) placed 13th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.21 while Daulton Snyder (New Oxford, Pa. / New Oxford) finished 15th with a time of 12.36. Snyder then also placed 15th in the 200m dash (24.94). In the 400m, Evan MacMullin (Haverhill, Mass. / Saint John's Prep HS) placed fifth coming in with a time of 52.76. 

In the 110m hurdles, Brenden Gardner (Muncy, Pa. / Hughesville) finished fifth with a time of 17.44. Gardner placed third (59.40) and Malcolm MacDermid (San Francisco, Calif. / Lick-Wilmanding) placed fourth (1:02.65) in the 400m hurdles. Steven Glodek (Amberton, Pa. / Fannett-Metal) placed second in the 3000m steeplechase. 

The team of Calvin Bembry II (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown), Snyder, Zolnak, and Gardner placed third in the 4x100m relay (46.55). The quartet of MacMullin, MacDermid, Zolnak, and Meci placed third in the 4x400m relay (3:37.34). 

In the field, Gardner placed third in the high jump marking (1.80m). In the shot put, Daniel Fernandez (New Oxford, Pa. / New Oxford) placed fifth marking 11.37m. In the discus, Thayer Phillips (Cuddy, Pa. / South Fayette) placed fourth (34.96m) while Fernandez placed sixth (32.27m) Philips placed fourth (40.25m) in the hammer throw and Fernandez placed seventh (29.55m). In the javelin, Phillips placed second marking 52.45m. 

The Eagles return to the track March 30th to participate in the Jim Taylor Invite held at Susquehanna.
