Men's Track & Field Takes Fifth Place at Landmark Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata men's track and field team finished in fifth place in the indoor Landmark Championships, Saturday at Susquehanna University.

The men's distance medley relay was the top finisher for the Eagles at the championship meet, as they finished in second place coming in with a time of 10:58.44. Brenden Gardner (Muncy, Pa. / Hughsville) was the Eagles individual top finisher, taking second place in the 60 meter hurdles with a personal record of 8.81. 

In the one mile run, Alexander Jones (Burlington, N.J. / Burlington Township) placed fourth with a time of 4:27.85, putting him third all-time in Juniata history. Lucas Simpson (Silver Spring, MD / Albert Einstein) placed 12th with a time of 4:51.56 and Steven Glodek (Amberton, Pa. / Fannet-Metal) placed 15th with a time of 5:04.47.

In the 200 meter dash, Gardner took seventh place with a time of 23.78. Storm Fridinger (Shippenburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) finished ninth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.62. In the 800 meter run, Andy Meci (Woodstock, N.Y. / Onteora) placed eighth with a time of 2:04.58. 

In the 3,000 meter run, Kevin Schofield, Desmond O'Donovan (Philadelphia, Pa. / Science Leadership Academy), Jones, Ben Martin (New Holland, Pa. / Garden Spot), and Peter D'Amico (Hummelstown, Pa. / Hershey) placed fourth, fifth, sixth, 14th, and 17th respectively. Vinnie Caroselli (Hershey, Pa. / Milton Hershey) placed fifth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:59.92 while Schofield placed sixth with a time fo 16:09.32. In the 4x200 meter relay, the Eagles took sixth place with a time of 1:48.62. In the 4x400 meter relay, the team took sixth place with a time of 3:59.32. 

On the field side of things, Fridinger was the top finisher for the Eagles, taking second place in the high jump. John Randolph (Jonestown, Pa. / Northern Lebanon) placed fifth while Gardner placed sixth. In the long jump, Randolph placed 10th (5.90m). Daniel Fernandez (Oxford, Pa. / New Oxford) placed 12th in the shot put, throwing 11.74 meters. Fernandez also placed 10th in the weight throw, throwing 11.86 meters.
