Men's Track and Field Competes at Messiah Invitational

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Juniata men's track and field team placed eighth in the Messiah Invitational on Saturday.

 

Freshman Evan Ulrich (Homer, NY/Homer) had a first place finish in the 10000-meter race, finishing with a time of 33:13.06. Nicholas Simpson (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) was right behind in second place with a time of 33:43.19. Peter D'Amico (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) finished the race in sixth (35:24.32).

 

In the 400-meter dash, Storm Fridinger (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) placed fifth, running a 51.65 time. Fridinger also placed 13th in the 200-meter race (23:14).

 

Ben Martin (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) ran a time of 16:33.11 in the 5000-meter race, finishing in sixth place. Vinnie Caroselli (Hershey, Pa./Milton Hershey), Kevin Schofield (Madison, Ct/Daniel Hand), and Conor Dimond (Summerhill, Pa./Forest Hills) followed behind in eighth, ninth, and tenth place, respectively. In the 800-meter, Ryan Bogdan finished 26th (2:07.77). Andrew Meci (Woodstock, NY/Onteora) placed 19th in the 1500-meter race, docking a time of 4:20.25.

 

In the field, Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) put up a strong showing in the hammer event with his third place finish, his throw reaching a distance of 44.26m. Daniel Fernandez (Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) placed 12th. Paterno and Fernandez also competed in shot put, finishing in ninth and 20th places.

 

Fernandez ended his day with a tenth place finish in discus, his throw measuring 35.52m.

 

John Randolph (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) placed 12th in javelin (46.88m) and 11th in the long jump (5.8m). Randolph also had a ninth place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.73m. Nathan Chavis (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) reached a 3.74 height in the pole vault event to place ninth.

 

The Eagles will be back in action again next weekend at the Greyhound Invitational.
