TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference named seven Eagles its Indoor Track and Field All-Conference teams. Based on their performances at the Landmark Championship, Andrew Paterno earned a spot on the First Team, while Nicholas Simpson, Evan Ulrich and the men's distance medley relay team earned a spot on the Second Team.
Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) was the Eagles' only gold medalist at the Landmark Championship on Saturday, Feb. 25, as he marked a 15.39-meter weight throw. Not only did he set a personal best, but the senior also set Juniata's program-best with his mark almost a full-meter longer than the previous. His first-place finish put him on the Landmark Conference's First Team, Paterno's first all-conference selection.
Simpson (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) and Ulrich (Homer, N.Y./Homer) earned spots on the Landmark Conference's Second Team with their performances in their individual events. In the 3000-meter run, Simpson finished in second place with a final, personal-best time of 9:11.49. In the 5000-meter run, Ulrich shaved 17 seconds off of his personal best to record a 16:01.80 time. The freshman took the silver, while Simpson took the bronze in the 5000-meter run.
