Five Top Ten Finishes For Juniata's Men

THE HEADLINE: Juniata's men and women's indoor track and field team competed in Susquehanna's Indoor Orange & Maroon Classic on Saturday, Jan. 21.

TOP THROWERS: Daniel Fernandez (Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) placed 15th in the men's weight throw, marking a 10.90-meter throw. He then placed 16th overall in shot put. Fernandez recorded a 11.12-meter throw, beating out 22 competitors.

TOP JUMPERS: John Randolph (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) tied for 24th in the men's long jump, pegging a 5.34-meter jump. He then recorded a 1.73-meter high jump that put him at 11th place in the event.

In the pole vault, freshman Zach Greenawalt solidified his eighth-place finish with his 3.80-meter performance. 

TOP RUNNERS: In the men's distance medley, Andrew Meci (Woodstock, N.Y./Onteora), Vinnie Caroselli (Hershey, Pa./Milton Hershey), Petro Sokirniy (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland) and Conor Dimond (Summerhill, Pa./Forest Hills) landed fifth with a time of 11:02.90. 

Freshman Desmond O'Donovan (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) recorded a 4:47.47 one-mile run and placed 24th out of 60 runners. 

Steven Guetzlaff's (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) 2:03.33 800-meter run put him in eighth place, beating out 45 runners. Similarly, in the 200-meter dash, Storm Fridinger (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) landed ninth out of 51 runners.

Nicholas Simpson's (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) placed third, the highest placing for the Eagles at the meet, in the 5000-meter run with his time of 16:16.55. The senior was only .04 seconds behind the second-place finisher.

UP NEXT: The Eagles will compete in the Bison Open & Multi at Bucknell University on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28.
