THE HEADLINE: Both the men's and women's track and field teams opened their indoor season at the River Hawks Opener at Susquehanna on Saturday, Dec. 3.
MEN'S TOP FINISHERS: Andrew Paterno and Daniel Fernandez placed first and third, respectively, in the weight throw event. Paterno beat out the competition with his 14.03 meter throw. Fernandez's 11 meter throw put him at third.
Fernandez placed in the top three once again, as he took third in the shot put event with his 11.77 meter throw.
2016's Landmark Conference Second Team member Storm Fridinger tied for second place in the high jump with his 1.88 meter jump.
WOMEN'S TOP FINISHERS: Kylie Orndorf, the only Eagle competing in the weight throw, marked a 9.46 meter throw that put her in 10th place.
Ashley Waterman, Orndorf and freshman Marylauren Davignon placed 15th, 22nd and 24th in the shot put. Waterman's 9.25 meter performance tied a York (Pa.) competitor and put them both at 15th out of 29.
High jumper Katelyn Fisher tied for fifth place in the high jump. Fisher came off of a 4.27 meter long jump and completed a 1.43 meter high jump a few events later.
WHAT'S NEXT?: Both the men's and women's indoor track and field teams will participate in the Orange & Maroon Classic at Susquehanna on Saturday, Jan. 21.
