Field Events Lead Men at Landmark Outdoor Championships

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata men's track and field team Eagles competed in the first day of events of the Landmark Outdoor Championships on Saturday.

 

In field events, Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) threw a distance of 43.49 in the hammer throw, which put him in third place. Paterno was 5th in discus with a throw that measured 37.78m. Senior Matthew Kinnebrew (Lansdowne, Va. / Stonebridge) reached a distance of 6.26m in the long jump, placing him 5th.

 

In the 10000m, sophomore Kevin Schofield (Madison, CT / Daniel Hand) placed 7th with a time of 34.45.

 

Junior Steven Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa. / Parkland) placed 10th in the 1500m, running a time of 4:09.21. Sophomore Storm Fridinger (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) qualified for the finals in the 400m with his time of 51.25 in the preliminaries.

 

The team will compete in day two of the championship tomorrow. The men's javelin throw begins at 11 a.m. with the 4x400 relay finals wrapping up the competition starting at 3:30 p.m.
