Men's Track and Field Takes on Jim Taylor Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Eagles competed at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University on Saturday. Sophomore Storm Fridinger (Shippensburg, PA / Shippensburg) led the team with his versatility in both the track and field events. 

Fridinger placed 6th in the 400m, running a time of 50.74 and 11th in the 200m with a time of 23.41. He also placed 8th in the high jump event, clearing a height of 1.85m. Senior Matthew Kinnebrew (Lansdowne, Va. / Stonebridge) followed just behind in the high jump in 9th place with a jump measuring 1.80. Kinnebrew also placed 18th in the long jump, reaching a distance of 5.60m.

In the hammer event, Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro) beat his personal record, placing 11th with a throw of 43.32m. Paterno also placed 13th in discus, reaching a distance of 36.97 and 12th in shot put with a throw measuring 12.22m. Daniel Fernandez (Oxford, Pa. / New Oxford) and Jon Atland (York, Pa. / Central York) followed Paterno in discus, placing 21st and 25th in the event, respectively. Fernandez and Micah McConnell (Patton, Pa. / Cambria Heights) also placed in shot put, finishing the event back to back in 23rd and 24th place.

Junior Trenton Barnes (Hopewell, Pa. / Northern Bedford) ran a time of 23.91 in the 200m. David Spayde (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal High School) finished 30th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.54.

In the 800m, Andy Meci (Woodstock, NY / Onteora) placed 20th with a time of 2:04.32. Steven Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa. / Parkland) led the Eagles in the 1500m, placing 22nd and running a time of 4:10.68. He was followed by Ben Martin (New Holland, Pa. / Garden Spot) in 37th place with a time of 4:21.10 and Evan MacMullin (Haverhill, Mass. / St. John's Prep) in 39th place, finishing with a time of 4:24.46. Greg VanDongen (Churchville, NY / Churchville-Chilli) and Lucas Simpson (Silver Spring, MD / Albert Einstein) also ran the 1500m, placing in 40th and 42nd place.

The men's track and field team will return to action next Saturday, April 2, at the Frostburg Invitational.
