Men’s Track and Field In Third Place at Landmark Championships

SELINSGROVE, PA- Boosted by several top 10 times on the day, the Juniata men's track and field team sits in third place at the Landmark Championships which were held at Susquehanna University. The Eagles' 26 points trail only the host Crusaders (78) and Moravian (105).

 

Matt Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) had the best finish of the day in the 1,500 meter run. He came in third with a final time of 4:01.30.

 

Conor Dimond (Summerhill, PA/Forest Hills) was fourth in the 10,000 meter run. He had a final time of 32:53.91. Fellow Eagle Kevin Schofield (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) was eighth (34:00.98).

 

Two Eagles qualified in their respective meets for the final tomorrow. Jaie Johnson (Reading, PA/Reading) placed seventh in the preliminaries of the 400 meter dash and was ninth in the 200 meter dash. Tyler Mandley (Altoona, PA/Altoona Area) came in second in the 110-meter hurdles.

 

In field events, Garrett Lavelle (Eden, NY/Eden Jr./Sr. High School) had a toss in the discus throw of 38.89. He edged out teammate Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) who was fifth with a measurement of 38.88. Paterno was also eighth in the shot put with a measure of 12.52 meters.

 

The championships wrap up tomorrow. Field events begin at 9 a.m. with the first running events starting at 11 a.m.
