Two First Place Finishes Push Men's Track and Field to Sixth Place at Messiah

MECHANICSBURG, PA – The Juniata men's track and field team finished sixth out of 18 teams at the Messiah Invitational Saturday.

A first place finish from Kevin Schofield (Madison, CT / Daniel Hand) in the 10,000-meter run and Tyler Mandley (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) in the 400-meter hurdles highlighted the track events for the Eagles. Schofield finished at 34:24.73 and Mandley at 56.62.

Jacob Krott (Temple, PA / Muhlenberg) qualified for the Landmark Championship on May 2 in the steeplechase at 10:56.40. Also reaching qualifying standards was Jon Atland (York, PA / Central York) in the javelin throw with a toss of 46.91 meters.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Trevor Stephens (Bethesda, MD / Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Steven Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, PA / Parkland), Ben Martin (New Holland, PA / Garden Spot) and Jun Yi Liu (Beijing, China) finished third.

Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, PA / Waynesboro) led the way in the field events, finishing top-10 in the hammer throw and shot put.

In the high jump, Nathan Chavis (Palmyra, PA / Palmyra) placed seventh at 1.68 meters. 

The Eagles have a quick turnaround for their next meet as they head to Shippensburg on Wednesday, April 15.
