Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Competes at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Juniata College men's track & field team competed at the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University on Saturday.

 

Sophomore Matt Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) picked up Juniata's highest finish on the day. He placed third in the 3000 meter run, finishing in 9:07.17. Senior Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) finished sixth overall in 9:09.63.

 

In the 800 meter run, sophomore R.J. Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius High School) broke the 2 minute mark by finishing in 1:59.94 to place 25th overall. Freshman Petro Sokirniy (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland) followed closely behind to finish 33rd overall in 2:00.68.

 

Junior Tyler Mandley (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) placed eighth the 110 meter hurdles in 16.38 seconds. Mandley also placed eighth in the 400 meter hurdles in 57.51 seconds.

 

In the 200 meter dash, freshman Trenton Barnes (Hopewell, Pa./Northern Bedford) finished in 23.58 seconds, putting him 19th out of 65 competitors. Barnes also placed 25th out of 76 in the 100 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.88 seconds.

 

Senior Zach Doyle (Altoona, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) finished 21st in the shot put with a personal best throw of 12.68 meters. Doyle placed 23rd in the discus. Freshman Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) placed 16th in the discus with a mark of 37.24 meters. Paterno placed 19th in the hammer throw with a personal best toss of 37.46 meters.

 

Sophomore Jon Altland (York, Pa./Central York) finished 12th in the javelin throw with a personal best mark of 43.49 meters.

 

The Eagles are now preparing for the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships beginning on Saturday, May 3.
