Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Earns 20 Top-Six Finishes at Bobcat Invite

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Juniata College men's track & field team dominated at the Bobcat Invitational by earning 20 top-six finishes.

 

In the 800 meter run, freshman Petro Sokirniy (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland) crossed the line in first and senior Connor Robinson (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) placed second.

 

Sophomore Matt Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) finished first in the 1500 meter run. Fellow sophomore R.J. Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius High School) placed third while freshman Xavier Cachon (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) finished sixth.

 

In the 400 meter hurdles, junior Brett Heber (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) placed third in 1:02.72.

 

In the 3000 meter steeplechase, sophomore Jacob Krott (Temple, Pa./Muhlenberg) finished second and senior Peter Mullins (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills) placed fifth.

 

Freshman Trenton Barnes (Hopewell, Pa./Northern Bedford) placed third in the 200 meter dash in a personal best 26.33 and sixth in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.83.

 

In the 4x400 meter relay, Juniata's "A" team of Sokirniy, Robinson, Barnes, and freshman Davon Jackson (Deptford, N.J./Deptford Township) placed third in 3:37.60. Juniata's "B" team finished fifth overall.

 

Senior Justin Herr (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) won the long jump with a leap of 12.14 meters and came in fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.71 meters.

 

Sophomore Garrett Lavelle (Eden, N.Y./Eden Jr./Sr. High School) and freshman Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) went 2-3, respectively, in the discus. Lavelle had a mark of 36.22 meters and Paterno threw a distance of 35.55 meters. In the shot put, Paterno, Doyle, and freshman Bryce Dupes (Elverson, Pa./Agora Cyber Charter School) when 3-4-5.

 

In the hammer throw, senior Zach Doyle (Altoona, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) and Steve Kidhardt (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) placed third and sixth, respectively, with personal best marks. Doyle had a throw of 37.32 meters and Kidhardt hit a distance of 33.80 meters.

 

Sophomore Jon Atland (York, Pa./Central York) had a personal best throw in the javelin to finish fourth.

 

The Eagles next compete on Saturday, April 12 when they head to the Messiah Invitational.
