Mandley Leads Men’s Outdoor Track & Field at Jim Taylor Invite

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – On a rainy Saturday, the Juniata College men's track & field team traveled to Susquehanna University to compete in the 30th Annual Jim Taylor Invitational.

 

For the second straight week, junior Tyler Mandley (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) swept both hurdle events. In the 110 meter hurdles, Mandley posted a personal best time of 15.82 seconds. He won the 400 meter hurdles in 57.22 seconds. Mandley currently holds the top times in the Landmark Conference for both events.

 

In the 400 meter hurdles, junior Brett Heber (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) and sophomore Michael Roth (Frederick, Md./Urbana High School) tied for sixth place in 1:02.33.

 

Sophomore Matt Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and senior Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) placed 1-2, respectively, in the 5000 meter run. Guetzlaff crossed the line in 15:24.90 and Alter finished in 15:28.47. Freshman Xavier Cachon (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) finished sixth in 16:19.55.

 

In the 100 meter dash, freshman Trenton Barnes (Hopewell, Pa./Northern Bedford) finished third in 11.77 seconds. Sophomore R.J. Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius High School) came in fourth in the 800 meter run in 2:00.50. Freshman Petro Sokirniy (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland) came in fifth in the 1500 meter run in 4:17.56.

 

The 4x400 meter relay team of Sokirniy, Mandley, senior Connor Robinson (Asheville, N.C./Asheville), and freshman Davon Jackson (Deptford, N.J./Deptford Township) placed fifth overall in 3:32.42. This time is the second best in the conference for the event thus far this season.

 

In the shot put, freshman Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) came in fourth in 12.86 meters.

 

The Eagles next compete on Saturday, April 5 when they head to the Frostburg Invitational.
