Men’s Track & Field Places Third at Landmark Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Juniata College men's track & field team competed at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championship meet Saturday and finished third overall with 41 points. The distance medley relay team led the Eagles, capturing their only victory on the day.

 

The team of sophomore Matt Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), senior Connor Robinson (Asheville, N.C./Asheville), sophomore R.J. Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius High School), and freshman Petro Sokirniy (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland) won the distance medley relay in 10:54.49, over six seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.

 

The 4x200 meter relay team of junior Tyler Mandley (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) and freshmen Trenton Barnes (Hopewell, Pa./Northern Bedford), Charlton Exley (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford), and Davon Jackson (Deptford, N.J./Deptford Township) placed second overall in 1:37.87.

 

Sophomore J.R. Hemminger (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) placed third in the pole vault at a height of 3.65 meters. In the triple jump, senior Justin Herr (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) finished fifth with a mark of 12.55 meters. 

 

Senior Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) placed fourth in the 5000 meter run in a career best 15:40.91. In the 3000 meters, Guetzlaff finished fourth in a personal best 9:06.22 and Alter finished sixth in 9:07.82. Robinson picked up individual points when he placed fifth overall in the 800 meter run, crossing the line in 2:02.66.

 

In the 4x400 meter relay, Sokirniy, Mandley, Robinson, and Jackson teamed up to finish fourth in 3:39.24.
