MEADVILLE, Pa.- The Juniata men's tennis team opened the fall 2023 slate with day one of the Allegheny Invitational on Saturday.
The Eagles competed in six doubles matches and seven singles matches across the day.
Francisco Aran Martin and Arsen Tabaldyev competed as a duo in two doubles contests, winning both in their Juniata debuts by tallies of 6-2 and 6-6, 7-2. Tabaldyev (4-6, 6-3, 10-7 & 6-0, 6-0) went on to claim two singles victories, while Aran (6-2, 6-3) won his lone singles match.
Dillon Murphy and Ezenna Emuka also played two doubles matches together, although they were defeated in both by margins of 1-6 and 0-6. Basile Gandon and Arthur DeYoung also marked their Juniata debuts, although they fell 4-6 and 2-6 in a pair of matches.
Gandon won in a tightly contested singles match 3-6, 6-2, 12-10 in his first Juniata singles match. DeYoung also pulled through to win his first singles match 2-6, 6-3, 10-3.
Utsav Deravariya started 2023, falling short of victory in his one match 3-6, 3-6. Murphy was also defeated in singles competition 3-6, 4-6.
The Eagles wrap up the Allegheny Invitational tomorrow.
