Eagles Sweep Defenders in First Match of Spring Season

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The men's tennis team began their spring season off strong, sweeping the Defenders 9-0 after traveling to Clarks Summit on Friday.

William Michelson (Old Mystic, Conn. / Stonington) and Seth Strawser (Richfield, Pa. / East Juniata) won in first doubles 8-2, Nate Whelan (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J. / Point Pleasant Beach) and Keisuke Maeda (Tokyo, Japan) won in second doubles 8-3, and Victor J.B Jung (Normandy, France) and Utsav Dhir Deravariya (India) won in third doubles 8-2. 

Carrying this strong momentum into singles play, the Eagles continued to dominate. Michelson won in first singles 6-1, 6-2, Strawser dominated in second singles 6-0, 6-0, while Ezenna Emuka (Houston, Texas / William B. Travis) won in third singles 6-3, 6-2. Whelan continued the winning streak finishing over his opponent in fourth singles 6-0, 6-0, Dhir Deravariya won in fifth singles 6-0, 6-0, and Jung made sure the Eagles stayed undefeated in sixth singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. 

The Eagles travel to Pitt. -Greensburg on Saturday, March 5, to compete at 12:30 pm.
