Men’s Tennis Falls to Drew In Regular Season Finale

MADISON, NJ- Having already clinched the top seed in the upcoming Landmark Tournament, the Juniata men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season against Drew. The Rangers were able to come away with a 5-4 win to give the Eagles their first conference loss of the season.

 

JC trailed 2-1 at the completion of doubles play. The lone victory went to the pair of Jason Gerber (Commack, NY/Commack HS) and Sam Wherley (State College, Pa./State College) who won for the first time this season with an 8-3 triumph over Bryce Weizer and Kevin Shulca 8-3.

 

Both players were also winners in their respective singles matches. Gerber was a victor at fifth flight 6-3, 6-4 over Weizer. Wherley went to three sets with Shulca and came out on top 6-4, 0-6, 6-4.

 

Matyas Kohout (Prague, Czech Republic / Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) was the other JC winner. Kohout defeated Will Morrison 6-1, 6-2 at first singles.

 

The two teams will meet again this Tuesday in the Landmark semifinals at the Raffensberger-Brumbaugh tennis courts. Match time will be at 3:00 p.m.
