SCRANTON, Pa. – The Eagles outplayed the University of Scranton 6-3 in conference competition today.
Juniata jumped out in the lead in doubles play, gaining victories in all three matches. Roy Liberman (Montevideo, Uruguay/EIHU) and Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australis/Saint Ignatius) defeated their opponents 8-6 while the duos of Matyas Kohout (Prague, Czech Republic/Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) and Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newton North) and Dan Ansel (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and Jason Gerber (Commack, NY/Commack High School) won their matches 8-4 and 8-5, respectively.
The Royals came back in second and third singles to bring the score to 3-2, but Polisena furthered the Eagles' lead with his win in first singles (6-4, 7-6). Daichi McAuliffe-Uch (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional HS) and Grafe battled and won their matches, each going to three sets, to solidify a Juniata victory.
Today's win brings Juniata's record to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in conference competition.
The Eagles will travel to Susquehanna on Tues. April 25 for another conference matchup at 3:00 PM.
